Employment Provided by the Community Care Trust

CCT provides limited paid employment opportunities for the people we support through our specialised employment service. This includes creating work to help develop their work ethics and skills within the organisation with a view to progression into open employment, and supporting people to find and maintain employment in an industry of their interest.

Where possible, and necessary, staff provide support through job coaching for both the employer and the employee. The support required is assessed and adjusted as progress towards independence in the workplace is made. Support staff work with the employer to ensure that the person is being well supported and is developing within their role so they can work independently.

Skills and training for successful experience

This also encompasses training and ensuring that people we support are equipped with the necessary skills to have positive and successful working experiences. Staff will support people to gain qualifications and increased knowledge and independence. For example: a heavy traffic license, chain saw license,  or a food handling safety certificate.

Types of employment available

CCT also employs a number of the people as:

  • Car groomers
  • Commercial office cleaners
  • Office receptionists
  • Property maintenance workers
  • Market Gardeners

People are employed working between an one hour a day to 30 hours a week.

All employees are paid at least the minimum wage and have individual employment contracts.

This employment is often seen as a first step to people joining the external labour force.

As a future project, we are also considering using the Underrate Workers Permit to start a small number of people on the employment process.
