Many of our staff sit on various boards or groups outside of their roles here at CCT.

Barney Cooper is actively involved with several local and national agencies including:

Disability Support Network (NZDSN) - Chief Executive
Barney Cooper is a Founder Board Member of this national umbrella organisation having been the Chair of National Residential Intellectual Disability (NRID) Providers for the four (4) years leading up to the establishment of NZDSN and the subsequent folding of NRID.
NZDSN (New Zealand Disability Support Network) is the result of the coming together of many different sections within the Disability Sector to create one voice for providers alongside, people with disabilities and their families. I see this as the way forward to strengthen the sector by working together to achieve better recognition from everyone in NZ society, local communities and government.
- Frozen Funds Trust
Chief Executive, Barney Cooper is a Founder and current Board Member. This Fund was developed from the unclaimed money from peoples money who lived in Psychiatric Hospitals in NZ though the 70's and 80's from the interest earned but not paid out.
The Board distributes funds annually to people with Mental Health or Intellectual Disabilities for projects that benefit these group. The Board is made up of a cross section of NZ Society who have an interest in sector, with the fund being managed by the Public Trust. - Dunedin City Council Disability Advisory Group.
Chief Executive Barney Cooper is a member of this group which is hosted by the DCC two (2) to three (3) times a year to look at issues that relate to disability in the Dunedin Community. For example: transport, access, recreation, etc.

Adrian Higgins, is actively involved in a number of national and international organisations:
- Australasian Society of Intellectual Disability (ASID) - President of the NZ region
Adrian is the President of the New Zealand region of the Australasian Society of Intellectual Disability (ASID-NZ) and sits on the Australasian Board.
ASID, which was formerly known as the Australasian Society for the Study of Intellectual Disability (ASSID), is an organisation comprised of individuals and organisations who have a personal and/or occupational association with people who have an intellectual disability.Among its aims are:
* the dissemination of knowledge in the area of intellectual disability;
* promoting evidence based practice;
* promoting the rights of people with an intellectual disability, to cultivating high ethical standards in those persons working in the field of intellectual disability;
* to offer advice to government and non-government bodies on all questions affecting the interests of the Association.A New Zealand Regional Conference is held annually and each association in turns hosts the major annual Australasian ASID conference.
- American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilies (AAIDD) - Member
Adrian is a member of the American Association of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilies.
Formely known as the American Association of Mental Reatardation(AAMR) the association promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It publishes two journals;
* The American Journal on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
* Intellectual and Developmental Disability - Long standing association with the Institute for Applied Behaviour Analysis (I.A.B.A.)
The IABA is well known internationally for its use of positive behavioural support, behavioral , instructional strategies and quality assurance systems in supporting people who have intellectual disabilities some of whom exhibit challenging behaviours. The CCT uses both the IABA Nonlinear Multi-element model and the Competency Based Training staff training package.
Adrian has a long-standing professional and personal association with the Institute for Applied Behaviour Analysis. In 1998 he was one of eight (8) Specialist Education Service (SES) national trainers selected and trained by Dr Gary LaVigna to deliver the IABA course on the Analysis of Severe and Challenging Behaviour to over 400 SES staff. Adrian has also presented papers at the IABA International conferences in Dublin (2005) and Brisbane (2009).
